Perlite

Perlite is the star additive for transforming any heavy potting soil into a lightweight, high-quality substrate. This volcanic mineral, expanded at high temperatures, forms small, ultra-porous white "popcorns" that won't break down or alter soil pH over time. Its primary function is to create countless air pockets within the pot, preventing soil compaction, drastically improving drainage, and allowing roots to breathe and spread easily. At the same time, it traps a moderate amount of moisture in its porous surface, helping to maintain consistent hydration levels without waterlogging.
